Pearl Harbor Survivors Military and Civilian leaders gathered at the USS Arizona Memorial to lay wreaths and pay tribute Dec. 7, 2012, in a remembrance ceremony marking the 71st anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and the island of Oahu. On the morning of Dec. 7, 1941 a surprise attack by the Imperial Japanese Navy against U.S. Pacific Forces on the Hawaiian Islands thrust the United States in World War II.
